David Jones is a
life-long resident of West Vancouver. He attended Caulfeild Elementary, Hillside Secondary and BCIT and still calls West Vancouver home.
David’s father John was a business man and restaurateur and his mother Fran was a West Vancouver elementary school teacher and principal. David’s brother Ian lives in Victoria with his family.
As a boy, when not at school, David loved to go to work with his father to his restaurant, The Mediaeval Inns in Gastown. It was here that he developed a strong work ethic at the age of 6 and he has never stopped.
David started his career in the hotel and restaurant industry and for over 15 years, owned and managed a number of food
and beverage operations in Vancouver until a growing interest
in commercial design led him to BCIT, and the development
of a career in that field. David operated his own design/build
firm, for 10 years before deciding that picture framing, art and
design was were he wanted to be. In 2015 he founded Jones & Company Bespoke Picture Framers in Ambleside, West Vancouver. It is now one of the top framing galleries in Greater Vancouver. Jones & Company is located at 1445 Bellevue Avenue and is currently
David's Campaign Office too.
As a West Vancouver business owner for the last three years, David has spent considerable time supporting his business neighbours and residents alike, addressing issues ranging from parking to promotion and everything in between. As an active member in
the Ambleside - Dunderave BIA, West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and the business community, he is aware of the challenges we face in our community and works regularly with members of the present council and district staff on resolving a number of these issues.
|"As an active member of the Ambleside-Dundarave BIA, the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, and a number of volunteer organizations, I am in a strong position to understand and promote strategies and solutions tailored to the challenges that West Vancouver is facing."
Volunteering is one of David’s great passions. David is an active member of the West Vancouver Stream Keepers, spent 11 years with the Coho Society providing event
management for the Coho Festival and 4 years operating the
licensed venues at West Vancouver Community Day. In 2010 he
worked in International Client Services as a volunteer for
the Vancouver Olympics. David has worked in the past on the
executive of both the Vancouver Rowing Club Rugby Section
and Vancouver Rugby Union as Vice President for more than
eight years. David is still an executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion and each year marches with the Legion’s “Colour Party” on Remembrance Day. In short, David really enjoys being part of this
community and helping others.
In 2012, David was awarded
the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the Governor
General of Canada in recognition of his contributions to his
community and Canada.
In 2013 David was nominated
for "Citizen of the Year" by the West Vancouver
Chamber of Commerce.
At the 2016 West Vancouver
Chamber's, President's Dinner, David's gallery, Jones & Company
was nominated for "New Business of the Year."
In 2018 David was nominated for the "Business Leadership Award" by the West Vancouver Chamber.
